Introducing some of the exhibiting artists

Kazumi Kamae

Kazumi Kamae

Born in 1966. Lives in Shiga Prefecture. Has been with Yamanami Studio since 1985. Not good at expressing her feelings to others, she continues to create sculptures of people she wants to attract their attention as a communication tool. All of her models are men she has feelings for. First, she decides on the subject and prepares the base shape, then carefully embeds the entire surface with fine rice-grain-sized clay. Large pieces can take more than two months to complete, and the countless grains cover the entire piece, transforming it into various shapes. She wants to be recognized by the person she loves. Even now, this feeling is what drives her creations.

Keisuke Mori

Keisuke Mori

Born in 1989. Lives in Ise City, Mie Prefecture. Currently enrolled at Kibo no Sono in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture. Started creating at the age of 12 at the atelier "HUMAN ELEMENT". Started oil painting at the age of 17, and is a regular artist who is selected every year for national open exhibitions and Mie Prefectural Exhibitions. He has held solo exhibitions in Aichi, Gifu, and Mie. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions not only in Japan, but also overseas in countries such as Germany, France, Spain, China, and Vietnam. His current color composition, with striking light and dark contrasts, was inspired by advice from Murabayashi, chairman of Kibo no Sono. His hobbies are video games and reading books.

Daichi Sakamoto

Daichi Sakamoto

After graduating from Ibaraki Prefectural Miho Special Needs School, he joined the Shizensei Club in 2016. He has a gentle personality and a sense of humor, and takes responsibility for any task. He participated in the 2019 Hong Kong performance of creative Dengaku dance. He has a free and free-spirited sensibility, and plays the drums, dances, and sings. In his paintings, he places emphasis on "brushstrokes," giving the impression of being fused with dance. His "Dogu" (2019), which he created by focusing on the shape and tracing it over and over again, was well received and was exhibited in the waiting room of the mayor's office at City Hall.

Masami Yamagiwa

Masami Yamagiwa

Born in 1972. Lives in Shiga Prefecture. Has been a member of Yamanami Studio since 1990. Cooking, doing laundry, cleaning rooms, collecting waste paper, and living the same time and in the same flow every day, one of the things he does is create art. When he first joined, he was only able to make plates and vessels, which he learned to make at school, but he was influenced by various experiences and the friends he spent time with, and his works gradually evolved into three-dimensional sculptures with a rich individuality. His earnest and honest personality is also reflected in his style, and he is able to continue to mass-produce the same shapes without stopping, as if in an assembly line. His representative work, "Masami Jizo," has been produced without change for over 20 years, and his works, which have exceeded hundreds of thousands, are a reflection of his way of life.

Curation

Hiromi Kurosawa

Chief Curator, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa / Advisor, HERALBONY Co., Ltd.

Recently, an approach to art appreciation that encourages logical and critical thinking has become popular. It is a repeated attempt to generate your own meaning within yourself by carefully observing things on a daily basis and communicating comprehensively with others in the world of art, where there are no correct answers. The goal is to become innovative yourself through the works. Be sure to gain new perspectives through dialogue with artists and works!

profile:
After graduating from Boston University (Massachusetts, USA), he worked at Art Tower Mito (Ibaraki) and Sogetsu Art Museum (Tokyo) before joining the Kanazawa 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art Construction Preparatory Office in 2003.
