HERALBONY Press Representative's "Decorating Handkerchiefs" Life Hack [#Unconventional Living]

This series, "#UnconventionalLife," is a lifestyle column brought to you by Nakatsuka Miyu (known as MIU), the creative director of the art lifestyle brand "HERALBONY." Although she has a rather dry personality, MIU has a hidden passion in her heart. She will introduce you to how to enjoy HERALBONY's art and products and how to incorporate them into your lifestyle in a "relaxed, gentle, and passionate" manner.

Read the series from the beginning: What is "Kuromaru", the room and outing item of the HERALBONY press representative?

I have some unusual artwork on the walls of my room.

It's a framed display of a HERALBONY handkerchief . I've had it on display for about four years now, occasionally changing the handkerchiefs.

When I left my previous job, I bought a lot of HERALBONY handkerchiefs as a gift to express my gratitude to the people who had helped me. At that time, I thought I wanted one for myself, so I intuitively chose Sanae Sasaki's "(Untitled) (Circle)" (commonly known as Kuromaru).
I've been using them as handkerchiefs and bandanas for a long time, but when I found out about the release of the Handkerchief + Frame Set , I decided to try framing them myself. Then, I was excited to see that they fit my room better than I had imagined.

This method is highly recommended for those who find it difficult to own the original artwork, as it allows them to easily enjoy art. In this article, we will show you how to frame a handkerchief at home.

How to decorate handkerchiefs at home easily

The frame is a black aluminum frame (W408 x H521mm) that was purchased to match the room's decor and art.

The white border, called a "matte mount," not only serves the purpose of preventing the original artwork from coming into direct contact with the acrylic plate, but it also makes the artwork look much better and gives it a more luxurious feel.
Once you have placed the handkerchief on the backing, fold it to fit the size of the frame. When doing so, adjust it so that the part of the work you like is visible. In Kuromaru's case, I make sure that the red and blue smudges are visible.
Once you have checked that there is no dust or other particles on the inside of the acrylic, place the handkerchief over it, being careful not to wrinkle it.
Just tighten the screw on the back and you're done.
The handkerchiefs inside can be easily replaced, so I can change up the decor in my room by replacing them with other HERALBONY handkerchiefs to suit my mood.

Recommended handkerchiefs for framing

In addition, I would like to introduce some art handkerchiefs by other artists that I recommend for framing.

Taisuke Kinugasa "afikarose"

Taisuke Kinugasa is one of my favorite artists, whom I met in Kyoto. He is one of my favorite artists, and I love him so much that I have his original artwork on display in my home. When he released his new handkerchief at the end of last year, I bought it right away. I feel such a strong energy every time I see this handkerchief in my pocket, so I'm thinking of buying another one to frame.
Masahiro Fukui "Lace Flowers"

Among all the artworks held by HERALBONY, Masahiro Fukui's work "Lace Flower" is one that I have always had a special affection for. The simple composition and colors are expressed three-dimensionally and powerfully by the brush strokes and the thickness of the paint. The handkerchiefs, which reproduce the beauty of the work using high-quality printing technology, are perfect not only for display, but also for the phrase "carry art with you."
Hiroyuki Ukai "Untitled (HU-B)" (Disney × HERALBONY )

I fell in love at first sight with Hiroyuki Ukai's "Untitled (HU-B)" . When I learned that this art, created from traces of dripping paint, was created by an artist who loves running water, I loved it even more. Although the work appears to have a strong style, the gentle colors match well with the atmosphere of a room with a simple, monotone interior.

Many people may think, "I want to decorate my home with art, but buying the real thing is a bit of a hurdle." HERALBONY has 25 different handkerchiefs in total. Why not start by finding the one you like among the handkerchiefs and decorating your room with it?
